About Incopa

INCOPA stands for the INorganic COagulants Producers Association and is a Sector Group of Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council.

INCOPA gathers together the European manufacturers of inorganic coagulants and aluminium and iron salts which are mainly used for water treatment, paper manufacturing, in the cement industry and by fertiliser producers and others.

INCOPA’s key objectives are:

  • To monitor and provide input on the regulatory developments on issues of importance to the industry, eg. waste water treatment and sludge disposal
  • To represent the industry with the regulatory bodies and trade associations active in the field
  • To promote and defend the merits of the treatment of waste water with chemical coagulants by bringing forward evidence of their efficiency and cost effectiveness.

 

Did you know?

The INCOPA Sector Group’s history dates back to when the ASUPA (Aluminium Sulphate Producers Association) was founded.  Later on two other sector Groups – other Aluminium Salts and Iron Salts joined forces to become INCOPA.  In January 2003 Copperas joined INCOPA.

Incopa works on issues such as:
  • Best Available Technique Reference Documents (known as BREF) under the EU IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control) regulation
  • Classification and labeling for hazardous products and conducting adequate studies for this purpose
  • Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) for the substances of the Sector Group
  • Monitoring EU Directives and Regulation in relation with water treatment and sludge disposal
  • And many more …
