SIZING PAPER
Size is one of the main characteristics of manufactured paper. Ink and water penetration in paper can be regulated with good sizing. Aluminium salts, together with organic compounds (rosin) have been used in sizing since the 19th century. Aluminium sulphate first, and then, from the 90's, aluminiumpolychloride. These products have been basic components of different sizing formulations that are applied in papermaking and which give the paper this hydrophobic propriety.
