Coagulant is the common name for the chemicals produced by the Incopa members. The outstanding character of these chemicals is the ability to form flocks by reacting with water.
These flocks incorporate suspended solids and discharge colloids. This property helps to remove undesirable contents from water and separation by sedimentation is then supported or even possible. This process is called coagulation or flocculation and is used as a first and important step in purifying water. It makes no difference whether the water is surface water to be used as drinking water or waste water to be cleaned or used as process water for producing goods.
Some flock products are sold and applied as solids but the majority are in aqueous solution such as aluminium sulphate or ferric chloride. The iron salts can be applied in two valences as ferric or ferrous. The aluminium salts, like poly aluminium chloride, have a certain alkalinity produced on purpose.
