As European producers of aluminium and iron salts, INCOPA’s members have obligations under both national and European Union legislation and regulations. The rules which are particularly relevant to our industry include measures designed to protect human health and the environment.

INCOPA monitors developments in European regulations affecting the industry. We also prepare position papers in consultation with industry experts so we can provide regulators with scientifically based information about inorganic coagulants.

Together with Cefic (the European Chemical Industry Council), INCOPA and its members are currently responding to the following legislation, regulations and standards:

Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances (REACH)

Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) of substances and mixtures

Industrial Emissions Directive review of BAT (Best Available Techniques) Reference Document on Large Volume Inorganic Chemicals (IED BREF LVIC)

European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) review of the classification of inorganic coagulants
